A leading international law firm, based in Holborn, central London, is seeking an experienced Compliance Officer to join its Risk & Compliance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a compliance professional with strong Anti-Money Laundering and client onboarding experience to work in a high-quality, fast-paced legal environment, supporting fee earners across a broad range of matters.

The role
Reporting to the Head of Risk & Compliance, you will play a key role in the firm’s client onboarding and ongoing monitoring processes. Your responsibilities will include conducting AML and sanctions checks, managing conflicts of interest, assessing client risk profiles, and maintaining accurate client data across internal systems. You will liaise closely with internal stakeholders and external clients, provide clear compliance guidance to fee earners, and escalate issues where appropriate.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake conflict checks with a high degree of accuracy
• Assess risk profiles for new and existing clients
• Manage end-to-end client due diligence and onboarding
• Run company searches, sanctions, PEP and adverse media screening
• Review and clear ongoing monitoring alerts and false positives
• Prepare and quality-check compliance reports for fee earners
• Support the wider Risk & Compliance team on AML and regulatory matters

About you
You will have experience working in a professional services or financial services environment, with a solid understanding of the UK Money Laundering Regulations and conflicts of interest. You will be detail-driven, highly organised, and confident managing multiple priorities while communicating clearly with stakeholders at all levels. Experience with AML systems and complex corporate structures is highly desirable
