A leading Build to Rent organisation is seeking a proactive and resident‑focused Maintenance Technician to join their team on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. You’ll play a key role in ensuring residents enjoy an exceptional living experience through high‑quality maintenance, prompt issue resolution, and a commitment to outstanding service. The role is based in Salford, Manchester.

About the Role

Working closely with the Service Manager and wider community team, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day upkeep of a modern residential development. Your work will directly support resident satisfaction and the overall safety, presentation, and smooth running of the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and complete reactive maintenance tasks, diagnosing and resolving resident issues efficiently
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and maintain accurate records
  • Liaise with external contractors to coordinate repairs
  • Support re‑let preparations including painting, regrouting and general maintenance
  • Maintain communal areas, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and high presentation standards
  • Follow all safety protocols, including fire safety procedures
  • Conduct daily building walks and maintain shared spaces such as corridors, lifts, car parks, lounges, and courtyards
  • Collaborate with the Service Manager and team on all maintenance and presentation requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in practical maintenance tasks such as carpentry, joinery, painting and decorating
  • Basic plumbing and electrical skills
  • A confident communicator who builds strong relationships
  • Reliable, flexible, and committed to going the extra mile
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to manage workload independently
  • Professional and positive interaction with residents, suppliers, and team members
  • Tech‑savvy and comfortable using digital communication tools
  • H&S knowledge or IOSH certification is preferred (training can be provided)
