Are you looking to launch your finance career in a meaningful organisation? An iconic British charity is seeking a Cash & Payments Assistant to join its friendly and supportive finance team. This is a full-time, permanent role, with hybrid working available after six months (subject to agreement with the Chief Accountant).

About the Role

This varied and hands-on position is perfect for someone early in their finance career who wants to build a strong foundation in a highly respected setting. You’ll work across accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, and reconciliations, gaining broad experience in a close-knit team.

This post has previously been a successful stepping stone for junior finance professionals who have gone on to join larger organisations — so it’s a great opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

You’ll Be Responsible For:

  • Managing the accounts payable ledger and preparing payment runs
  • Handling supplier queries and monthly reconciliations
  • Supporting income processing across departments (retail, events, accommodation)
  • Performing banking duties and assisting with audit and compliance tasks
  • Collaborating with a small, experienced finance team to drive efficiency and accuracy

Who We’re Looking For:

Essential:

  • Highly numerate with great attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills with a team-focused mindset
  • Proactive and able to meet deadlines
  • Competent with Microsoft Excel and able to learn new systems

Desirable:

  • AAT part-qualified or QBE
  • Experience with Exchequer or similar finance systems
  • Previous cash handling or charity sector experience

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a mission-driven British charity with a proud legacy
  • Work within a small, collaborative finance team (Finance Director, Chief Accountant, Systems Accountant, Finance Officer, and Administrator)
  • Enjoy a hybrid work model (post-probation)
  • Gain diverse, practical experience in a respected and supportive environment
  • Make a difference in an organisation that values pride, respect, and community
